Taleisin's Tales

The first miles of Taleisin - the engine-free wooden cutter the Pardeys built themselves, teak carvel planking over sawn black locust frames - from California down through the Sea of Cortez and across the Pacific via French Polynesia, the Cooks, and Tonga to New Zealand (the subtitle is Sailing Towards the Southern Cross).

Lin and Larry Pardey are the most famous cruising couple in sailing: 200,000-plus miles, all of it aboard self-built, engineless boats, distilled into the motto "go small, go simple, go now." They went on to sail Taleisin for 28 years before swallowing the anchor on Kawau Island, New Zealand.
